Our mission
To hold, in one clear container, the good intentions of anybody who wants to take part, and to keep them somewhere they can be seen at any time by anyone who asks.
- Open to all. No form, no account, no interview. If you can reach the slot, you qualify.
- Visible at all times. The glass is clear on every side. Visitors are encouraged to look for as long as they like.
- Handled with care. Coins are counted on arrival, then left exactly where they landed.

How do I get my coin back out?
Retrieval sits with the board, which reviews retrieval requests at the meeting after next. Your request will be read aloud, in full, and then filed.
Who holds the key?
The key is documented in our founding paperwork. The paperwork is stored in the jar for safekeeping, which is where the board felt it belonged.
Is the jar audited?
Every quarter. An independent auditor walks into the east wing, looks at the jar, confirms that the jar is a jar and signs a short letter to that effect.
What happens when the jar is full?
We commission another one to the same specification and place it on the shelf beside the others. See Fig. 2 for the current shelf.
Has anything left the jar so far?
Our figures for outgoing coins are published above and we stand behind them. Outgoing movement falls outside the scope of this page.
Can I speak to someone about a withdrawal?
Of course. Our office is open on weekdays, the kettle is usually on, and the conversation can go on as long as you want it to.
